Fair enough

I'm Kim. I'm generally a sarcastic asshole. Some people appreciate it. Others, not so much.

A tribute to biology.

This is a poem I wrote for extra credit on our biology ecocolumn project. Enjoy!

Oh Ecocolumn

Oh ecocolumn, ecocolumn, what can I say?
We did our best to manage you each and every day.
With plenty of light, COand water to spare,
photosynthesis occurredfrom our tender, loving, care.
Our terrestrial plants grew from end to end,
and into the water they began to extend.
That Fish enjoyed this, the plants’ heavenly taste,
taking in nutrients and letting out waste.
For that fish to grow, he had his own means;
he used some oxygen and glucose produced by the greens.
Cellular respiration then started, creating ATP.
He used it for processes we can not even see.
Big things were happening in this ecocolumn, for sure.
For the longest time, it seemed as if it would endure.
But when we returned from our holiday break
our plants were wilting, our water was opaque.
That fish could not live in the toxins of his waste,
and into the soil his body was placed.
So now we hope, as decomposers do their work,
that the leaves of our plants will begin to perk.
If not however, we can accept this,
as secondary succession will ensure that the column continues to exist.
